Q & A with Dr. Pittman

What inspired you to become a dentist?

My mother inspired me to become a dentist. Growing up, I listened to her stories about what dental care was like when she was young in Georgia. Many of those experiences weren’t positive, and hearing them made me realize how important it is for people to feel respected, comfortable, and cared for when they visit a dentist. I wanted to be part of changing that experience for others and helping patients feel genuinely supported in their oral health journey.

What do you enjoy most about practicing dentistry?

What I enjoy most is helping people realize that going to the dentist doesn’t have to be something they fear. So many patients come in carrying anxiety from past experiences, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing them leave feeling relieved, comfortable, and proud of themselves. Building trust with patients and helping them feel confident in their smiles is what makes dentistry so meaningful to me.

What’s your philosophy on dental care?

My philosophy is simple: do it with heart, do it with care, and always do it to the best of my ability. Every patient who sits in my chair deserves to be heard, treated with compassion, and provided with the highest standard of care I can give. Dentistry is about more than teeth—it’s about helping people feel healthier, more confident, and comfortable with their smiles.

How do you approach patients with dental anxiety?

With patience, understanding, and compassion. I know that for many people, just walking into a dental office can feel overwhelming. I take the time to listen to their concerns, explain what to expect, and move at a pace that’s comfortable for them. My goal is to help patients feel safe, respected, and in control of their care so that each visit becomes a positive experience rather than a stressful one.

What does serving the Ocoee community mean to you?

I feel grateful to serve the families and individuals who make Ocoee such a special place. Being trusted with my patients’ care is something I never take for granted, and I value the relationships I have the opportunity to build within the community each day.

What do you enjoy outside the dental office?

Outside of dentistry, I love spending time with my family, traveling, and discovering unique restaurants. Some of my favorite memories come from exploring new places and sharing experiences with the people I care about most. Those moments help me stay grounded and remind me how important meaningful connections are—both in life and in the relationships, I build with my patients.
